Case Study
The lightweight construction of portable classrooms led to significant temperature swings, leaving HVAC units struggling to maintain comfort during peak afternoon hours.
The classrooms were retrofitted with Templok Ceilings, which contain Phase Change Material (PCM), to add thermal mass. By utilizing PCM, the ceiling acts as a thermal buffer that absorbs heat during the day and naturally resets overnight.
Templok® improved thermal comfort by keeping classrooms up to 4°F cooler. The installation successfully shaved peak afternoon HVAC demand by up to 20% and reduced total cooling energy consumption by 7%.
